Summary: I found descriptions for P. marcescibilis…

but none for var. virginea.

Got link?

Neat bit of detective work…

Summary: 15

I went through and I think that I found all of the observations of this species. 10 now going by this name, and 5 which can be found by clicking the “Similar Observations” on the species name page, but for which the name Coprinopsis sp. is still preferred by virtue of the voting system. Thanks again for your keen suggestion!

Summary: Excellent!

Thank you so much for weighing in, it appears that this species variant is a very good match for this mushroom. When I first begun noticing this all around the bay area I thought it looked rather like a Psathyrella and because it does not deliquesce, figured it would not be described anywhere in the genus Coprinopsis, thooough… Unless these are closely related to P. gracilis(which I doubt) it will eventually need to be moved into a new genus when the family is reevaluated, so I won’t become attached to this name. Especially since P. marcescibilis var. marcescibilis seems distinct enough from this that maybe they represent distinct species, but I’m not sure. But at least now there is a reasonable name that all of these observations can finally be arranged together.

Summary: Psathyrella marcescibilis var. virginea.

Hello.

My opinion is that it may be Psathyrella marcescibilis var. virginea. This species corrsponde a taxon from Spain, Coprinus Lotinae. Larson and Orstadius demonstrated through molecular biology Psathyrella this group must recombine within the genus Coprinopsis.
