Observation: Agaricus subrufescens Peck (549)
About Agaricus subrufescens Peck
Public Description (default) [Edit]
When: 2002-10-18
Collection location: Burbank, California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Nathan Wilson (nathan)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found growing in my garden where the previous spring I had buried a failed “A. brasiliensis” kit from Mushroom Adventures.

As Mike Wood points out in his comment, A. brasiliensis has been synonymized with A. subrufescens.

Later fruiting in the same area as observation 550

Summary: Agaricus subrufescens

Obviously the scientific naming should go to the author who first described and named the mushroom, which in this case seems to be Agaricus subrufescens by Peck, which should now be considered the correct scientific name.
Thank you very much for trying to correct the name with the rest of the world, especially Brazil.

(Kerrigan 2005)
