Summary: I love this mushroom!

and was thrilled to find it again this past season in Mendocino. But I didn’t realize that the microscopy was so cool…I’ll have to dig out my dessicata, and with that strong napthalene odor, I could probably do it blindfolded! ;)

Summary: Ok,

That’s a shame, I always look forward to viewing your photographs and drawings, your work in mycology is very extensive:)

By: Oluna & Adolf Ceska (aceska@telus.net)
Summary: No drawing

We don’t have any drawing for this particular collection. Oluna’s 5 sketch books (210 pages each) cover the period from 1999 to 2010 and she is now ca. 50 pages into the volume 6. We have managed to scan vol. 4+5 (ie., from the period of ca. 2005-2010). For most of the collections, Oluna sketches in detail just the first sightings, otherwise she notes the main characters (spore size etc.) on the collection labels.

We like your C. foetens photos and greatly appreciate Mushroom Observer’s setup. O+A

Summary: Nice,

Nice find Oluna and Adolf, I find this genus to be very interesting under the microscope, I would love to see one of Oluna’s great line drawings of this collection if you have one, especially if it shows the interesting pileipellis structure that is made up of a hymeniform layer with inflated terminal cells, this genus often has an unusual napthalene like odor.
Here are some links to three undescribed species from that genus that I have found in New Zealand.

The link below shows the same species as in the first link above but the specimens are very wet and washed out due to very wet weather.

In New Zealand these fungi fall into the genus Hygrotrama which is a previous synonym for Camarophyllopsis, there is one described species, H. roseolum which needs to be transferred to Camarophyllopsis, the link below shows that species and some nice water colours and descriptions from the late G.M.Taylor, two or three of her pages there represent two of the undescribed species in my links above.
