Notes: Angular-pored bolete under mixed mostly hardwood trees. Kidney-shaped cap, pores running down stipe, distinctly veined appearance to the pore wall surface. Hand-sized. In Zone 54.

is a synonymous genus, and I was not referring to Phylloporus. Perhaps I was thinking of Meiorganum curtisii, but that is a totally different beast…

Perhaps the other genus you’re thinking of is Gyrodon.

Isn’t there a similar-looking mushroom from another genus with boletinoid hymenophore? I cannot recall the name.
