Observation: Amanita farinacea (Cooke) Cleland & Cheel (7967)
About Amanita farinacea (Cooke) Cleland & Cheel
When: 2007-04-10
Collection location: Kundabung, New South Wales, Australia [Click for map]
Who: Ian Dodd (kk) (www.kundabungkid.com) Australia (kundabungkid)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: These were photographed at Kundabung after rain and growing in natural leafy compost on my property. They are fairly common in eucalypt forest areas of our Australian Eastern Mid North Coast. There are two very similar species, Amanita ananiceps and Amanita cinereoannulosa. I am not confident enough to make the chooice.

Summary: Mushroom envy….

Wow. I have absolutely no idea about a name, but these Australian mushrooms that could be in Amanita sect. Lepidella are incredible. Wow, Ian. Wow.

The authorial citation should be “(Cooke & Massee) Cleland & Cheel.”
