Observation: Boletus rubricitinus (Murrill) Murrill (8009)
About Boletus rubricitinus (Murrill) Murrill
When: 2008-06-09
Collection location: Big Thicket, Polk Co., Texas, USA [Click for map]
Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: These look similar to several blue staining Boletes in the South. However, the quick staining of the pores and flesh and the color as well as the longitudinal
striations of the stipe seemed to indicate this species. What few spores I obtained seemed to match the general shape and size in the descriptions.
Found in the Big Sandy Creek Unit of the Big Thicket.
