Observation: Ganoderma curtisii (Berk.) Murrill (8079)
About Ganoderma curtisii (Berk.) Murrill
Public Description (default) [Edit]
When: 2008-06-09
Collection location: Big Thicket, Polk Co., Texas, USA [Click for map]
Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)
Herbarium specimen available

Notes: Apparently many mycologists consider this mushroom to be just a pale form of Ganoderma lucidum. It is commonly found in the Southeast. This specimen does look like it could be an immature Ganoderma lucidum but it also lacks the high varnish surface that I’ve always seen with even small G. lucidums.
This specimen was about 4.3cm across the cap and a stem of about 5.5cm.
