Observation: Pluteus sp. Fr. (8189)
About Pluteus Fr.
When: 2008-05-02
Collection location: State Forest near Comboyne, New South Wales, Australia [Click for map]
Who: Ian Dodd (kk) (www.kundabungkid.com) Australia (kundabungkid)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I have not seen this fungi before getting this image. It had attached itself to the rotting trunk, and as before, in one of my previous images there seems to be a cluster of wood particles associated with the stem at the base. The fungi was actually almost concealed in a cavity in the stump. The colours are true and no flash was used . The image was shot @f32 with a Nikon Macro f2.8 manual lens. Exposure time was 28secs. The fungi was found not far from the bush track and the vegetation in the surrounds was damp. This area is a Sub tropical Eucalypt forest and receives good rainfall generally (about 27 30 inch per year) but the winters are extremly cold due to the elevation of the area. Temps get to 0 centigrade regularly in winter but seldom get snow. Summer temps can reach 30degrees Cent. No spore count was collected. Height was about 7cm and cap about 5cm actoss. The cap was dry to touch.
