Notes: Photographed in nature trail surrounding botanical gardens in northern Virginia.

White transparent stem and caps, condensation all over plant body.

Possibly fungus, would like to know scientific and common name if indeed fungus.

Summary: Always associated with/parasitic on fungus

Here in Oregon, Monotropa uniflora is always associated with Rhizopogon vinicolor, which it lives off of. Because Rhizopogon vinicolor is usually associated with Douglas fir, M.u. is also usually found under Douglas fir.

These are indian pipes,or ghost plant, a parasitic plant that taps into the mycorrhizal connection between the mushroom and the tree.
