Observation: Scutellinia scutellata (L.) Lambotte (8639)
About Scutellinia scutellata (L.) Lambotte
When: 2008-08-01
Collection location: Strouds Run State Park, Athens, Ohio, USA [Click for map]
Who: Dan Molter (shroomydan)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: My inescapable teleological bent makes me suspect the little hairs on the eyelash cup serve some function.

Perhaps they trigger the release of spores when moved by the wind or a small insect.
