Observed at the Oregon Mycological Society’s 2002 Fall Mushroom Show, Portland, Multnomah Co., OR at their truffle display. This specimen was brought in by Adrien Beyerle. I have reservations about it being a Rhizopogon, which are mostly distinquished by having paraphyses: small chambers literally similar to the inside of the tubes of either Boletus or Suillus mushrooms. This specimen looks more solid than a Rhizopogon, and might be a young Leucogaster rubescens.
