Observation 100061: Fistulinella conica (Ravenel) Pegler & T.W.K. Young

When: 2012-06-24

Collection location: Big Thicket, Tyler Co., Texas, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)

No specimen available

Of all the interesting new mushrooms I found on this trip, these were my favorite. While both of the cited reference books have pictures of this species, there were, to date, no reported sightings on MO and hardly anything on the web.
Spores ~ 14-16 X 4.3-5.2 microns.

SE Texas foraging is not for the squeamish, but the rewards can be great.
