Collection location: Big Thicket, Polk Co., Texas, USA [Click for map]
Found in the Big Sandy Creek Unit.
Caps up to 3.4 cm across.
Flesh was white and didn’t note any pinkish staining.
There was scant whitish latex which may have left a slight pinkish stain.
The photos show some pinkish tints on the cap and also possibly in the gills.
This may indicate Lactarius subplinithogalus or Lactarius sumstinei.
However, the flesh taste seemed mild.
Need some input from some local friends.
Did not get a spore print.
