Observation 100141: Hohenbuehelia mastrucata (Fr.) Singer
When: 2012-07-12
(35.5618° -84.2371° 259m)
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: The top of cap was clear colored and very gelatinous and viscid (sort of the consistency of Leotia lubrica) while the underside was lamellate. The fruitbodies grew from a fallen hardwood branch in a crepidotoid fashion.

Cap diameter approximately 1.0-2.0 cm. Was not able to obtain any view of spores with this first section. Very interesting apically encrusted setiform cystidia!

I’ve never seen anything like this, wish I had more material.

Cystidia are a nice match for H. mastrucata.
