I was using Smith, Smith & Weber’s How to Know the Non-gilled Mushrooms for identification. That was not one of the options. Source? Under S,S&W: “the pores red to orange at times”. I didn’t know there was a variety flammeus.
Is the name var. flammeus still in vogue? Because it would seem that that name might fit this specimen quite well!
