HABITAT open hardwood forest on low knob; SUBSTRATE Quercus bark; ASPECT partly sunny; NOTES thin to lumpy greenish crust, K-, C-, KC-; ASCOCARP black, shiny, very prominant smooth shiny black rims, exciple reddish-brown darkening inward with radiating cellular structure, epihymenium grayish to faintly bluish turning fleeting greenish in K before clearing, hymenium hyaline and strongly inspersed, hypothecium dark reddish brown like inner exciple, all POL- and K-, paraphyses sparsely branched near tips and easily separating especially in K and not expanded at all at tips, asci with IKI+ blue thollus (inner structure?) and more weakly IKI+ blue walls; SPORES 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, smooth, simple, hyaline, 12-15 × 7-9 µm.
Not Lecidella euphorea because of inspersed hymenium.
