Spores ellipsoid…

with minimum length around 7 and maximum length around 9 mu… maybe very slightly above; 1.4 < Q < 1.5. Q is a bit large for flavoconia. Otherwise spore measurements fall into the upper range of flavocoia and lower range of flavorubens.

As mentioned in the notes, no staining of context.

Flavorubens does seem like a better fit for this observation.

One thing to note… very hot and dry weather for the past two weeks, and this is apt to affect macro characters.

Hmmm… You’ve got a point there, Bob.

I found this in an area where I run across countless flavoconia (well, when there’s rain). So this probably influenced my ID. But, the basal bulb is a bit abrupt for flavorubens, and I did not notice any redenning, even in the context in the base. Scales do look like flavorubens.

I’m hoping for a spore drop. Maybe that will help. Spores for the two species are a somewhat differently sized.
