Recognized by sight: Black and shaggy, grey pores.

Recognized by sight: two species occur on the East Coast: floccopus, with a complete reticulum on the spores, and confusus, with a partial reticulum. Did you bring these home? I was so impressed with the spore ornamentaion that I brought one home fresh on the plane, for use in a future Western microscopy class!
