Observation 102226: Aspicilia phaea Owe-Larss. & A. Nordin

Notes:
HABITAT oldgrowth chaparral and conglomerate outcrops at top of high transverse ridge; SUBSTRATE granitic cobble loose on ground; ASPECT sunny; NOTES thallus very thin rimose continuous grayish-brown, K-, apothecia small 1-3 per areole not elevated concolorous rim, disk black epruinose, epihymenium olive-brown to brown in K, all POL- and K-, paraphyses with many slightly swollen cells near tips; SPORES 8 per ascus, hyaline, ellipsoid, simple, smooth, 15-17 × 12-13 µm.
