HABITAT oldgrowth chaparral and conglomerate outcrops at top of high transverse ridge; SUBSTRATE conglomerate outcrop on top of ridge; ASPECT shaded; NOTES well-developed whitish verruculose crust, K+y C- KC- UV- 350-375nm, very dense sessile to constricted apothecia, rim very even thin smooth thalline, disk dark red-brown epruinose flat to slightly convex, epihymenium brown but POL- and not clearing in K, amphithecium full of algae and coarse POL+ crystals not clearing in K, cortex of amphithecium very distinct and uniform 15 µm POL+ clearing in K; SPORES 12 × 7.5 µm.
