HABITAT oldgrowth chaparral and conglomerate outcrops at top of high transverse ridge; SUBSTRATE Quercus agrifolia bark on dead limb; ASPECT shaded; NOTES gray lumpy crust, abundant crowded apothecia, thin gray lecanorine rim with prominant orange proper exciple inside, somewhat darker orange epruinose disk, paraphyses with 1-3 swollen cells, epihymenium and edge of exciple K+r but cortex on sides of apothecia K-; SPORES 8-12 × 5-6 µm with 3-5 µm isthmus.
