I think the whole color rendition of the photo was rather wrong. On the other hand, being colorblind, I don’t trust my color perception. Our previous collection of Macrocystidia cucumis grew across the road from the recent one and it also triggered a lot of discussion:
For our records, we keep these particular collections as Macrocystidia cucumis var. latifolia (J.E. Lange) Imazeki & Hongo.

That looks like Macrocystidia. I never have seen M. cucumis so pale. There is the smaller, paler M. cucumis f. minor

Cheilocystidia seem to be typical of Macrocystidia cucumis.
