Observation 102349: Entoloma Fr. ex P. Kumm.
When: 2012-07-21
No herbarium specimen

Notes: single specimen found growing directly from a twig at the bottom of a small, shaded, leaf littered hill about 500-1000 yards from the Chattahoochee River. Smell is spermatic and slightly peppery. it was slightly purple when I picked it and has really darkened after an hour or two.

I tried to post this to Shroomery but the server is jacking me around. I found a mushroom that has the image of the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus as well and that’s just the type of thing that doesn’t belong here.

spore print pics added, along with various other bored Saturday overkill

last spore print image was lightened slightly. I’d call it brownish, but I am somewhat colorblind and have badly mis-IDed spore print colors before. Leptonia has pinkish spores, no?

sometimes grow directly from wood, with a certain group in particular preferring lignin-rich substrates.

bruising looked purplish earlier, much darker at a spot of bend-damage, almost looks blueish now but that might just be a product of a consolidation of that purple color as the stem dries. if that’s a thing
