Notes: HABITAT hardwood forest on top of small hill in bottom of steep valley; SUBSTRATE siliceous rock; ASPECT sunny; NOTES endolithic to faint pale creamy crusty bits in cracks, K- C- KC-; ASCOCARP large, discose, black, pruinose disc, thick smooth shiny raised even rim, epihymenium dark black-green, hymenium greenish, excliple reddish-vinaceous with very dark outer layer, hypothecium like exciple but lighter, all POL-; SPORES 8 per ascus, oblong, simple, hyaline, 10-13 × 3 µm.
