(34.225° -118.1284° 967m)
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: HABITAT chaparral on west slopes; SUBSTRATE Rs under Quercus; ASPECT partly sunny; NOTES gray to slightly brownish thin areolate crust with dark gray prothallus at margin, cortex and medulla K-, apothecia flush and black and epruinose, margins of apothecia concolorous with thallus and not raised,, epihymenium green remaining green in K, paraphyses moniliform with 4-6 swollen cells, medulla POL+ clearing in K; SPORES 8 per ascus, ~25 × 15 µm.

This was a noticeably browner specimen. No conidia this time, and many of the asci apparently had fewer than 8 spores, but otherwise it was identical to the previous observation (and in fact growing mixed in with it on the same boulder).
