I found quite a variety of mushrooms yesterday, but wanted to be sure and work this one up, since the specimen I had after the Rock Island foray was devoured beyond recognition by bugs before I got a chance to work on it. Quite striking on this one is the little abrupt bulb at the base of the stem, which appears to be one of the features that separates it from A. placomyces. It also had narrow spores -all of them pretty much right around 3 um in width.

I have been finding this as well this week
