Observation 102716: Poria sensu lato
When: 2012-07-25
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This white thing appeared on the stump in front of my house yesterday just like a slime mold. It is the white blob that appeared out of nowhere. But it looks poriod. I have seen Hericium, Ganoderma, Coprinus, and Pluteus on this stump or when it was a tree. What is this?

again. It seemed firm, not squishy like Ceratiomyxa is. But I think you are going in the right direction…,

Then I have no idea :) I can’t imagine a polypore which would come out that fast though

Thanks Dmitriy

The closeup certainly looks like that. I have never seen it as a single mass, and this is pretty hard. More photos to come.
