Notes: This mushroom was found at 7300 ft. in extremely dry conditions, in a mixed fir/lodgepole pine forest. There is no image of the stem, but it was white and did not stain when bruised. The cap color was a tannish-brown with no hint of greenish, or olive tint. The cap was 5 to 6 cm in diameter, and the stem was 4 to 5 cm long.

Summary: Reminds me of Russula mustelina gr.

Mike passed me this observation some time ago and I think that I made a mistake in my original evaluation. I thought it might be Group 2 on my Mild Russula of Sierra Nevada page, but now I think it is Group 3, which is very close to the European Russula mustelina genotype.
