HABITAT recently burned open live oak forest near mouth of creek by ocean; SUBSTRATE smooth bark on young Quercus agrifolia sapling; ASPECT partly shaded; NOTES very thin smooth whitish crust, K- C- KC- UV-, somewhat irregular barely emergent gray-black apothecia, epihymenium dark, hymenium hyaline, no algae or hypothecial tissues, asci globose, hymenium dark blue in Lugol’s or K followed by Lugol’s; SPORES 8 per ascus, hyaline, smooth, obovoid, 3 transverse septae, 1-2 longitudinal septae, ~12 × 6 µm.


Thallus margin and apothecia, at 30x, stacked.
Spores, in water, at 1000×.
