Notes: HABITAT recently burned open live oak forest near mouth of creek by ocean; SUBSTRATE upper side of scorched Quercus agrifolia limb in canopy; ASPECT partly shaded; NOTES immersed thallus, round raised black apothecia with abundant UV+pink pruina, pruina K- C- KC-, all parts POL-, thin black margin, epihymenium and exciple and hypothecium dark brown, hymenium hyaline, all parts apparently red-brown in Lugol’s; SPORES 8 per ascus, hyaline, smooth, fusiform but wider near one end, tapered ends, 3-septate (most visible in Lugol’s), 30-35 × 5 µm.
