HABITAT recently burned open live oak forest near mouth of creek by ocean; SUBSTRATE upper side of scorched Quercus agrifolia limb in canopy; ASPECT partly shaded; NOTES lumpy gray crust, K- C- KC- UV- 350nm, black disks, smooth persistent thalline rims, epihymenium brown and POL-, hypothecium pale brownish and POL-, hymenium hyaline, paraphyses with dark pigmented cap; SPORES 8 per ascus, brown at maturity, 1-septate, maybe angular lumina when young but very soon not angular, retaining thickened apices, ~16 × 8 µm.
