Observation 102924: Panaeolus subbalteatus (Berk. & Broome) Sacc.
When: 2012-07-23
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Notes: Growing all over the lawn which topsoil & sawed had been laid 3 or 4 months ago, we’ve had a couple of rainy days & just the right temperature, I’ve looked all over online & I’ve found no info on LBM’s in Utah so I’ve decided this is a topic worth putting out there for experts to tackle!

*Panaeolus? Panaeolina? Galerina?
*Fresh topsoil & sawed
*Mulched grass
*No noticeable bruising, but I’ll be making more observations
*One of the mushrooms had a bluish white shade of mycelium(I realize there are a couple of different types)
*Most spore prints were black a couple were brown
*I have atleast 3 different LBM’s I would like identified, & I have no problem with anyone editing/correcting anything I’ve written here, also if i’ve uploaded too many photos of the same one! Thanks!(I will change the info myself if needed once I’m corrected)

These are the rest of the other LBM’s I would like to identify***

I realize this is very unorganized & unprofessional “Observation” Once these LBM’s have been identified, I will clean it up. Thanks for your patience!

Recognized by sight: Black spore print will never render a Galerina ID. Rusty spore print for them. USE REFERENCES and it will be much easier. Great first pic for this species by the way :)

Recognized by sight: The species concept of Agaricus (Panaeolus) cinctulus is based on a drawing made by Bolton in 1791. No type collection exists. Since it is not possible to know whether Bolton’s species was Panaeolus subbalteatus, P. olivaceus or P. fimicola, I consider Panaeolus cinctulus to be a nomen dubium.
Based on microscopic features: The gill faces need to be checked for sulphidia; the presence of these would indicate that it is probably Panaeolus fimicola.
