I have always wanted to live in the mountains, I just hope I can afford to stay here!
I fall prey to the trail rush too! I wish I could photograph and I.D. them all!
You take good photos Martin. They’re not bad.
When I get some time away from work here soon, I’ll plan an all day hunt and I’ll bring my camera

I was looking at your map and feeling envy. It has been dry here most of the year. No morels, and still only one or two boletes. I can fall prey to the trail rush, running from one mushroom to another with the camera, taking one bad photo after another. But I like my camera. I will always have it. You only have to use it for the best one of the day!

haha uh oh, the pressure is on!

I love living in Boone. There are all sorts of trails around and I’ve never seen more fungi in my life!
I’d have to actually hunt them back in Rowan Co. But you don’t even have to try to find them up here. They’re everywhere!!!!
I actually get overwhelmed because if I kept stopping to check out the mushrooms I’d never get off of the trail! So I try and photograph only the ones I don’t see that often. I don’t like bringing my camera on hikes because the weather is kind of unpredictable up here. So I miss photographing a few cool ones. Most all of my recent photos are taken with my phone.
Since the temperature warmed up, Boletes are popping out everywhere!

…about an hour before I found this bolete I walked up on a swarm of yellow jackets….not fun. I guess they had a nest in the ground or something.
So everyone be safe out there while mushrooming!

You are in a good spot Matt

This mushroom stained my fingers yellow!
I had to scrub my hands with dawn to get it to come off.

Thanks Guys! :]

It’s good to be back! I haven’t had access to a computer or my microscope :(

I second that!
