Notes: HABITAT open west-facing slope on western ridge; SUBSTRATE soil; ASPECT sunny; NOTES thallus dark rich brown thick squamules, K-, margins ascending blackish roughened, lower surface black with obvious rhizomorphs toward center, perithecia black immersed abundant in old squamules, cortex brown above and hyaline below 70-100 µm thick composed of angular-round cells 8-10 µm, algal layer with uneven boundary with cortex, all POL- K-, perithecium walls brown, hymenium hyaline K/I+ blue, asci long cylindrical; SPORES 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, hyaline, simple, smooth, ~13 × 8 µm, in one row.
