Notes: HABITAT open chaparral on west-facing ridge-slope dominated by laurel sumac; SUBSTRATE bark of big dead limb of Malosma laurina; ASPECT sunny; NOTES pale base, slightly swollen, papillae few to absent, isidia few to absent, soralia starting tiny and superficial becoming large and confluent near tips and mounded, axis narrow and white, medulla large and very lax and white, one thallus K+y-r blood but identical neighbor K-.

K. Knudsen calls this U. brattiae, claiming thick central axis. I was calling it U. cornuta sensu lato.
