Notes: HABITAT open chaparral on west-facing ridge-slope dominated by laurel sumac; SUBSTRATE scrub?; ASPECT sunny; NOTES thallus gray-brown rough dirty K-, apothecia common small, rim ~white with gray outer edge K+r only on inside edge, disk orange K+r, epihymenium gold-brown POL+Y K+r, hymenium hyaline POL- K-, parathecium thin elongate cells POL- K-, algae dense and continuous below apothecia, paraphyses with one abruptly swollen cell ~4 µm thick at tip; SPORES usual, 10-12 × 5-6 µm with 4-5 µm septum.

Definitely in the C. holocarpa group. Basing ID on the gray thalline rims.
