not sure what to call this.

Walden Pond is monitored by Rangers on Horseback (a new mushroom name for us??!) plus it was pretty and obvious, so I didn’t collect it.

very dry conditions, but fairly close to a water source.

ID suggestions (from photo only) most welcome!

Conifer or hardwood?

I’m not good enough with lower bark… It has a Hemlock look but could be oak or maple.

mixed woods, so duff is no help…if you know your tree bark though, maybe you could make a guess…
