Notes: HABITAT non-calcareous rock outcrop; SUBSTRATE rock; ASPECT sunny; NOTES thallus thick rough whitish deeply-cracked areolate crust, K- C- KC- UV- 305-375nm, medulla Lugol-, apothecia 1 to few per areole immersed flush aspicilioid or lecideine(?), disk black epruinose, epihymenium green-black POL- unchanged in K and C, hypothecium hyaline POL- unchanged in K and C and Lugol’s and K/I, hymenium hyaline POL- K/I+ blue strong, paraphyses simple grandually expanded a bit at tips conglutinated, asci with relatively thin K/I+ blue at tips small and hard to see; SPORES 8 per ascus, hyaline, simple, smooth, ellipsoid, K/I+ golden.

Can’t be Lecanora oreinoides due to K-; can’t be Lecidea because no apothecia have lecideine rim at any stage; can’t be Buellia due to hyaline simple spores… what am I missing?? [I note that every specimen I’ve ever seen I’ve misdiagnosed as K-, what in the world??]
