Si, conozco el libro de la Dra. Piepenbring, la pagina web del STRI sobre los hongos de Panama incluye las especies descritas en este libro, y otras descritas mas recientemente, sin embargo, me parece que hay muchas mas especies no descritas en Panama, ademas,hay que considerar a veces no es posible identificar una especie simplemente porque es una nueva especie.

I use what I have on hand. A lot of better reference books are too expensive for my limited resources. That’s why I put a lower confidence rating on G. umbilicatum, although references on-line suggest that many fungi found in Florida and Texas are also sometimes found in Mexico and further south.

In a perfect world, I’d have access to many herbaria and libraries. But it is what it is. I respect your expertise in SA and Central American fungi. Do you have a suggestion for this?

I know it’s a great book, but it’s not a world supermonograph. Using it for the US is one thing, using it for Central America is another entirely. You would be hard pressed to find much crossover — at all — between the taxa listed in Arora and the fungi of Panama. Have you heard of this book?
