The center of the cap does appear reddish.

These are small thin mushrooms. What I have IDed as T. rutilans is generally larger, more robust, and brighter in color. Audubon describes the cap color for T. decora as “yellow-orange or with brown tones.”

I did not study this collection very closely. Lots of stuff to examine after our local club had a foray the other day. Perhaps “I’d call it that” is a bit of a stretch. I’ll cut the confidence bcak to “promising.”

look more red than black to me. I would have guessed T. rutilans.
