HABITAT chaparral on sea cliffs in small west-facing cove; SUBSTRATE mossy outcrop in chaparral gully; ASPECT partly shaded; NOTES very thin to lacking thallus, all K- C- KC- UV- 350nm, abundant scattered tiny black flat to slightly convex epruinose apothecia, rims thin black even consistent, epihymenium dark brown, exciple pure black-brown, hypothecium deep red-brown, hymenium hyaline and not inspersed, paraphyses with swollen round dark-brown-capped tips; SPORES 8 per ascus, gray-brown, septate, smooth, ~10 × 4 µm, even walls.
