According to Else Vellinga’s treatment, this is Flammulaster carpophilus (Fr. Earle. See:
Vellinga, E. C. (1986). The genus Flammulaster (Agaricales) in the Netherlands and adjacent regions. Persoonia 13(2): 1-26.
P.S. This particular issue of Persoonia was filed in the UVIC Main Library, the rest was in the Compact Storage in the basement.

Sources for the name

Moser & Breitenbach. I wanted to get Else Vellinga’s new combination from Persoonia 13(1): 7 (1986), but somebody pinched that particular issue from the Univ. of Victoria library. I will ask Else Vellinga to have a look at this observation. Until then, we will call it F. carpophiloides. If the ID and the name are correct, this would be the first record for British Columbia.
