On soil under hardwoods, salmon-orange colored cap fading and discoloring in age, margin usually inrolled, tapered stipe, discoloring purple where handled. This mushroom appears to have a fairly locallized distribution so is not often collected or photographed, but fruits in very large numbers where it is known to occur.
