Observation 104284: Russula Pers.
When: 2012-08-08
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Another find from the Yuganskiy nature reserve.

Medium-sized Russulas with rather acrid taste, nearly white spore print and flesh that turns very slightly gray; we found several fruitbodies on Sphagnum+Menyanthes+Carex tussocks near Pinus and Betula.

The conditions were a bit… hectic (we were in the middle of a big forest fire), so we didn’t test the chemical reactions in fresh material. I know this makes a definitive ID almost hopeless, but…

with nauseosa. It’s a species with rather dark yellow spores and very striate cap margin, but I don’t have any other suggestion right now.
