Recognized by sight: Erumpent in soil under introduced Eucalyptus. Recognized as Hysterangium but not to species in the field.
Based on microscopic features: The spore morphology distinguishes this taxon from H. inflatum. The utricle is of a “swirled” type as opposed to the barrel-type seen in H. inflatum.
