Observation 104507: Entoloma Fr. ex P. Kumm.

When: 2012-08-08

Collection location: Bedford, New York, USA [Click for map]

41.2304° -73.6819°

Who: Linas Kudzma (baravykas)

Specimen available

Found under Oak/Maple. Some Entoloma sp. with fruitbodies resembling Tricholoma. All caps observed were cracked as pictured. Spore print salmon-brown.
So far I’ve only looked at gill tissue microscopically:
1) Hypae with intracellular granular pigment
2) Clavate cystidia (or are these just basidioles?). See the Interference Contrast photomicrograph.
3) Prismatic spores (~10 m) which are mostly “heterodiametrical 5-angled” as defined by Machiel Noordeloos in http://www.entoloma.nl/html/entintroeng.html

Species Lists

Prismatic spores (~10 microns) in Melzer’s
Gill hypae with intracellular granular pigment
Clavate cystidia (or are these just basidioles?)
