In humus under hardwoods in mixed mesophytic forest, Cherokee Orchard Loop, Rainbow Falls Trailhead, Gatlinburg, TN. Cap 5 cm, convex, deeply centrally depressed, not hygrophanous, dark blackish-blue, velvety/like suede. Stipe 6.5cm long,0.7cm thick, blueish grey,hollow with white basal mycelium.
