This looks like a species that I see commonly under oak in central New Jersey.

I haven’t posted it on the WAO site because I think I might have two different species mixed together in my notes. The one I have collect most frequently in recent years I call “rooseveltensis” because it is all around the town where I live. It’s a rather small, gray species of sect. Vaginatae.

I’m sorry that I don’t recall if you have a microscope. If you do, the Roosevelt amanita has predominantly ellipsoid spores (average Q around 1.3).
