Notes: HABITAT open oak forest on steep north slope; SUBSTRATE granitic rock; ASPECT open; NOTES rimose to small-subsquamulose gray to brownish thallus, cortex K- C+r KC+r UV-, medulla white K- C- KC- UV- or some C+ KC+ bleeding in from cortex, black angular apothecia inset between areoles, faintly pruinose, black prominant rim becoming even, apothecia plane and round to angular and slightly convex, epihymenium brown POL+, exciple brown POL+, hymenium hyaline POL-, hypothecium dark brown POL- medulla white ~POL+, hymenium I+ red-brown (Lugol’s), medulla I-; SPORES 8 per ascus, hyaline, simple, ellipsoid, some oil drops near ends inside, 11-13 × 6-7 µm.
