a Xanthoconium to me, maybe X. stramineum,a species I never find.

You’re right! I don’t see even a trace of glandular dots. Maybe Noah or Bill or Walt can weigh in on this.
Was the cap viscid? Is there any chance it isn’t a Suillus?

is what i thought but where are the conspicuous glandular dots? i didn’t see them on any specimen
